APPLICATIONS
Mil-Arc 60 is a maintenance welders best friend when repairing unknown types of steel. Many times, a repair needs to be made on old, fatigued, an previously repaired equipment. Mil-Arc 60 will weld to these unknown and fatigued steels like if you were welding on new common steel. It can also be used for repairing cracks or worn down areas on tooling. Many times a repair must be made when only one side of the weld repair is obtainable, Mil-Arc 60 can be welded to one side and potentially be as strong as welding both sides of the repair with an ordinary electrode. Because of the ceramic like flux that is nonconductive and offers a soft spray-transfer arc, Mil-Arc 60 is your best choice for BROKEN STUD REMOVAL. Other great applications include: pressure vessels, springs, shafts, agitator blades, hydraulic lines, etc. Mil-Mig 600 and Mil-Tig 620 are available for mig and tig welding.
FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE:
Operate the electrode perpendicular to the surface with approximately a 60 degree lead angle and a short arc gap. You should keep amperage as low as possible that will maintain a smooth, consistent arc. Bevel heavy sections. Use stringer beads. For high alloys and heavy sections preheat to 400 F., skip weld, and peen to avoid stress internally.
MECHANICALS:
Tensile strength: up to 125,000 psi
Yield strength: up to 90,000 psi
Elongation: 28%
Hardness: HB 300
Current and Polarity: AC/DCEP (+) |
