APPLICATIONS
Mil-Arc 70 is ideal for poor fit joints, welding thick to thin and deteriorating steels. The dense flux coating allows the electrode to maintain a consistent arc at very low amperage, nor will it overheat at excessive amperage. This feature allows you to weld sheet metal without burn-through and obtain deep penetration on thick steels. Mil-Arc 70 has excellent operating characteristics, even on AC current. Mil-Arc 70 can be used to weld A-36, A-515, A-516, and boiler steels. Some of the applications include: pipe, pressure vessels, tanks, angle iron, construction grade steels and general welding. Try our Mil-Mig 700 wire for your continuous wire needs.
FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE:
Maintain a medium to short arc with approximately a 5 to 15 degree lead angle. When welding fillet welds, hold electrode evenly between segments while using a slight oscillating motion, hesitationg at the edges to ensure proper fusion. When welding vertical and overhead, lower amperage and hold a close arc to ensure weld fill will not drop out. Hold a close arc or a drag technique to weld horizontal fillets. You should keep amperage as low as possible that will maintain a smooth, consistent arc. Bevel heavy sections. Preheat to remove moisture and eliminate embrittlement.
